Privacy Policy

StickTax ("we", "our", "us") operates the StickTax application for BigCommerce and the website at sticktax.com. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data We Collect

When you install StickTax on your BigCommerce store, we collect and store the following:

• Store information: your BigCommerce store hash, store name, store URL, and the email address of the store owner. This is provided by BigCommerce during the OAuth installation process.
• API access token: a BigCommerce API token with read access to your product catalog and read/write access to tax provider settings. This token is used exclusively to sync your product catalog and register the tax connection.
• Product catalog data: product names, SKUs, variant labels, prices, and active status. This data is synced from your BigCommerce store when you click "Sync Catalog" in the app.
• Tax configuration: the excise tax rules, sales tax rules, and profile classes you configure within the app.
• Tax calculation records: order IDs, shipping states, and calculated tax amounts for orders processed through StickTax. These are stored for your tax reporting and audit purposes.
• Subscription data: if you subscribe to a paid plan, your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID are stored. We do not store credit card numbers or payment details — Stripe handles all payment processing directly.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect customer personal information (names, email addresses, physical addresses, or phone numbers) from your store's shoppers.
• We do not collect credit card or payment information from you or your customers.
• We do not use cookies or tracking pixels on the StickTax app interface.
• We do not collect browsing behavior or analytics from your storefront.

3. How We Use Your Data

• Tax calculation: your product catalog and tax rules are used to calculate the correct excise tax and sales tax at checkout.
• Product sync: the API access token is used to read your product catalog from BigCommerce. We never modify your products, inventory, or store settings beyond the tax provider connection.
• Tax reporting: committed tax records are stored so you can review tax history and export CSV reports for your accountant.
• Subscription management: your email and Stripe IDs are used to manage your subscription status and communicate billing information.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored in a Supabase database with row-level security enabled. Each merchant's data is isolated by store hash — you cannot access another merchant's data and they cannot access yours. API tokens and tax credentials are stored as encrypted values. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. The only external services that receive your data are:

• BigCommerce: receives tax calculations at checkout via their Tax Provider API. This is the core function of the app.
• Stripe: receives your email address for subscription billing. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as StickTax is installed on your store. If you uninstall the app, your tenant record is marked as cancelled. You may request complete deletion of all your data by emailing support@sticktax.com. We will delete all records associated with your store hash within 30 days of your request.

7. Your Rights

You may:

• Request a copy of all data we store about your store
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Uninstall the app at any time from your BigCommerce control panel

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of StickTax after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
